Story and Photographs by Sarah Seely
The 2016 Portland International Auto Show had a very apparent theme: High tech as a standard and small SUV’s. Another common theme was green technology and MPG’s. No longer just tucked away in a small “green technology” room, every car brand had an electric and/or hybrid model to showcase. The question is no longer, do you offer a hybrid or electric model? It is now “How much farther does this model travel on a charge over last years model, or than the competitors options?”
Small SUV’s were everywhere! Every brand was introducing their own version of this and it seemed to be the most popular with visitors taking turns behind the wheel and checking out MPG’s and cargo space. Not only were these small SUV’s popular in style, they came in hybrid and electric versions, delighting the crowd and piquing the interest of a new market.
